FACIAL RECONSTRUCTION WITH BRACHIAL SKIN FLAP

Abstract
|
|
|
The pathologic lesions of the facial skin as posttraumatic scar, postburn scar and tumors have affected not only the external appearance but also the social activity of each individuals.
The reconstructive mehtods of the facial skin defect are divided roughly into skin graft and skin flap, which have been studied and developed recently.
We review the clinical experience of 7 cases of the facial reconstruction with brachial skin flap.
The brachial skin flap technique presents three advantages.
1) This technique is the safe technique independent of the location and size of the facial skin lesion.
2) The match of the skin texture and contour is good with adjacent facial skin because the brachial skin flap is thin and soft.
3) There is no functional disturbance of the doner site, which is the well hidden area in clothes.
